Blackout blinds and block out blinds are common alternative names for blockout blinds. They usually describe an opaque fabric that stops light passing through it. GCBC uses blockout. If you are looking for complete or total blockout, the window fitting matters too: a standard roller blind can still leave light around the edges.

A roller blind needs a small amount of clearance to move freely, and the fabric is narrower than the complete bracket-to-bracket width. A blind fitted over the opening may allow more overlap than one fitted inside the reveal, where the surrounding wall and window permit it. Yes. When the blind is lowered, the opaque fabric prevents people seeing through the material from either direction. Small perimeter gaps can still remain on a standard roller blind, so the window shape, fit and outside viewing angle are considered during the measure.

They are a practical choice for bedrooms, nurseries, shift-worker rooms and media rooms because the fabric removes the bright window surface and provides opaque privacy.
